Doing Business In China

November 4, 2009

china

An interesting proposition has arisen for many in the United States as of late. If you are unemployed you have probably already been offered this but even if you are succesful you may have seen this. Thousands of businessmen and women are going to China to pursue a dream of making money in an emerging market when their jobs here have not worked out as planned. I find it very interesting as being one that understands the Chinese market and culture they are not very outgoing or friendly towards outsiders especially loud Americans who cannot speak their language and do not respect or know their culture.

I have been doing a lot of research on people doing business in China the right way from a guy named Nick Topjian who I put a video of below I found on the NY Times website to many financial firms that I have seen in the United States that moved to China but hire many Chinese businessmen alongside Americans and Canadians to make the transition more positive and smooth. The first thing that Americans should do before trying to pursue the China route is to visit the country for a week because it is very different than almost all spots in the US so proceed with caution as the “culture shock” is always very high here.

I will continue to make a few posts here from time to time spread out but many of my posts will focus on business in foreign countries and those who are starting online businesses here in the United States and my area of Washington state.
